Track is a spring sport for all students in 4th - 8th grade. 2008 was our inaugural year for our track team and we brought home many awards! There are five meets during the season and practices are 2-3 times per week after school.
Basketball
Lial Catholic School participates in the CYO basketball league. Beginning in 5th grade, boys and girls may participate. Practices are generally twice per week after school and most games are played on the weekends.
Volleyball
5th- 8th grade girls participate in the CYO volleyball league. Games are generally on the weekends and we have home court advantage at some games!
Cross Country
Cross Country is for all children age 5 and older. Practice is 2-3 times per week in the fall and is a fun way to have families get to know each other during Saturday meets.
Softball
Students wishing to participate on softball may participate with their parish leagues.
Football
Most years, several flag football teams are created for grades K-1, 2-3 & 4-6 through the YMCA. Many of our Lial children form teams and enjoy playing together. You do not need to be a YMCA member to participate. These teams will give the children experience before they play tackle football in CYO.
Doug Leu is our volunteer Athletic Director. He can be reached at the school at 419-868-7012.
Coaches
All of our sports have volunteer coaches. Currently they are all Lial parents!
Clubs
Girl Scouts - Daisies, Brownies, Juniors
The girls at Lial have fun together in their troops.
Spelling Bee Club
The Spelling Bee Club is a club that focuses primarily on improving spelling abilities in a student. This club is also great for those who are good at spelling because they can help other students learn and become better spellers. It is an after school activity in which a snack is provided. It runs from 3:00 to 4:00 on the second Friday of every month unless stated otherwise.
Also, at the end of the year we have a big tournament which the students can compete in.
The students say they LOVE spelling club because they like having fun while learning. They enjoy playing different games involving spelling. They also enjoy meeting new friends at the meetings. It is a great experience and a great way to learn!
Writers Club
Intermedaite and Middle School students who enjoy writing enjoy this club in which they get new ideas and opportunities to grow in their writing skills.
